I love reading, I always have and hopefully always will. Zoie has recently really picked up her reading skill and I LOVE watching her sound out the words and discover them for herself. We are big on the Library, my sister is a librarian after all. We go to the nice new library about 20 minutes away from us once a month and made a trip out of it. I bring a huge basket and we fill that sucker to the brim! Here is what I have read recently.
Liane Moriarty is so good. She can really draw the reader in with her storytelling and I am always sad when the book is ending. If she did a series where all the characters from her books are intertwined it would be my best day!
If you are a mama, I can’t recommend this book enough. Kara just left this earth earlier this year after a long battle with cancer, but her legacy continues on. This book was such an encouragement to my weary parenting soul, and its a short read!
More Liane Moriarty because duh… she’s amazing.
I read this book because I was waiting for another Liane Moriarty book on hold at the library and it was free on Kindle. It was a sweet story, a little too teenage drama for me, but sometimes an easy read is very much appreciated.
On deck for August is;
I love Dee Henderson. Mystery, law enforcement, and always Jesus. I’m currently flying through this one, its a page turner!
What are you reading? Any recommendations?
Have a happy day! Blessings from my family to yours.
Its finally starting to get a little chilly around here! I actually had a reason to wear my blanket scarf. It really doubled as a blanket when I went to the movies with some girlfriends and it was COLD!!
[[ Boots – Zulily; jeans – Target Maternity; Boyfriend Cardigan – GAP; Blanket scarf – Target ]]
Let’s go Chargers!!
I hope you have a fashionable and comfy week!!
I really enjoy when bloggers do “day in the life” posts. Apparently I love peeking into other people’s lives… #creeper?
I actually get a lot of questions about my schedule because of homeschooling. Before we started schooling I was curious myself, what does a homeschooling day look like?
So here is my feeble attempt at a “Day in the life” post. Please forgive the poor quality of photos, they were all taken with the camera phone.
WARNING!! This is a picture heavy post!!
5:30am. Wake up and start the day with some quiet time. I get cozy and read in the Word. I am naturally a very impatient person and spending time with the Lord is the ONLY hope I have of being a kind and patient mommy.
6:30am. I get my morning buddy. Pennie is my early riser. I used to fight it and send her back to bed but she would wake up her siblings and then everyone was grouchy. Now I get some one on one time with my middle kiddo and count it a blessing.
She played quietly while I finished my Bible study then helped me unload the dishwasher and start on breakfast.
Then its upstairs to get dressed for the day and tidy up beds.
Ignore the child laying on the floor, she was praying. We start with circle time every day. This includes our calendar, weather, shapes, colors, theme, & 100 day chart. We also spend some time reading out loud our thematic books for each unit.
11:30am. A quick stop at the library to pick up books on hold. No pictures… It was survival of the fittest.
Zone Checks for the girls while I make lunch, tidy the kitchen, & turn over the laundry.
1:00pm. Freddie goes down for nap and I’m folding laundry while Zoie finishes up table work and Pennie gets a Disney Jr. show.
1:30 PM Off to the other library… The nicer library. Its a bit out of our way but its on the way to ballet class. We use the library a lot!! I request books for our homeschooling themes and seasons then they are already ready for me when we arrive. Its awesome.
And the girls like the computers so BONUS!
2:30 pm. Driving home with this goober. I drop Zoie off on Fridays because Ronnie has to coach & Freddie is home napping. My mothet in love picks her up and brings her home. We may or may not have sang “Let it Go” at the top of our lungs.
5:45pm. I’m out the door SOLO to pick up a friend and head out the movies. A bunch of girls from church are going to see Hunger Games and have dinner together to celebrate a birthday. Hooray for girls night out!!
10:00 pm. Movie over. Time for a silly group photo.
10:45pm. Crawl/Drag myself to bed. I may be an hour past my bedtime but those kiddos went to bed on time which means they will be up with the sun.
So there it is, a day in the life. Of course I don’t always get to end it with a fun activity… Normally its a show on TV with the hubs and off to bed… But it certainly was a good day.
Anyone else struggle with what day it was all weekend? All day on Friday I kept thinking it was Saturday.
Friday was a lazy day for us and it was awesome. Pennie girl still woke up early despite getting home at 10:30 from my parents house, so I got up with her.
The other two trickled downstairs pretty quickly and when Ronnie came downstairs and turned on the football games from Thursdsay I promptly fell back asleep for a glorious morning nap. I truly mean glorious.
Then the girls and I got gussied up for a princess birthday tea party.
The other families aren’t on social media so I’ll keep the photos to myself but it was pretty stinking cute. Little girls all dressed up as princesses playing together.
We came home to the boys and one of our college besties stopped by for a visit.
He was such a good sport to play catch with Freddie boy. We enjoyed our time with him eating In N Out for dinner and the boys played video games… It was really like reliving college except with three kiddos in the mix.
Then Ronnie had to rush off to practice and the girls and I made cookies to take over to the boys. I also tried to squeeze in a quiet time while the kids played snowballs (aka trash my house with cotton balls)
We packed up in the car and headed over to the end of practice to deliver cookies to the boys.
Freddie wanted to be out there so bad. He kept pointing and shouting “me!! me!!”
After practice we had a lazy Saturday and enjoyed leftover dinner at our friends house. It was relaxed and welcomed after the businesses of Thanksgiving.
Sunday we went to early service at church so we could hurry home for the Charger game.
I like seeing my boys watch football together.
We finished up the evening with hot cocoa & a Christmas movie to prep us for the advent season.
Hope you had a fantastic weekend.
Another week in photos. 🙂
Morning sink baths. You other mommas know EXACTLY what happened here. If you arent a momma yet, just wait.
That smile slays me.
It was raining last week and I couldn’t find my rain jacket ANYWHERE. So I grabbed the warmest jacket I have, my letterman, and cozied up with some memories.
I lettered in Cheer. So what?
P.s. found the jacket. In Ronnie’s trunk, cant imagine why I didnt look there first.
These 2 pics go together. After 4 wonderful years of working as the Children’s Director at my church I stepped down.
I may or may not have cried a little.
So I used Daisy Duck to prop up Freddie’s bottle so I could craft. Some mommas said it was genius, I still feel a little guilty. I LOVE snuggling my littles every chance I get.
P.s. that is NOT a bow on my sons head, its his sisters skirt on the floor behind him.
We took the girls to their first ever movie. They were ELATED! it was adorable to see how captivated they were. Zoie only asked to go home twice during the scary parts. Totally worth the $28 (ahem!)
My heart is full. Couldn’t be more thankful for my three hooligans if I tried. Hope yall had a Happy Thanksgiving.
