Habits – August.

Posted on

In the continuing effort to be a productive and intentional person I am trying to keep up with and instill good habits in my life.

At the end of July I set 3 goals…here is an honest update and my new goals for September.

#1: Workout. Virtual high-five! So far I have a pretty good habit in place. Hadlie is now big enough to go to the gym daycare so I can take the troupe with me in the morning for a bit. I get to run or lift AND take a shower (that part is KEY) and I’m ready for the day. I also have some great DVD’s for working out at home if I can’t make it to the gym and the kids like doing them with me which is always fun.

#2: Reading: We have gotten a lot better about this! The girls and I are currently in the middle of reading Mr. Poppers Penguins together, I’m excited to watch the movie with them when we are done. In the afternoon, when little brother gets put down for nap, i bring out coloring books and they draw while I read to them. Zoie sometimes reads us a book too, I really enjoy that time together.

#3: Uninterrupted Play Time: Small improvement. The girls got some shopkins and we have been playing those together, but I want to be SO much better. I will relish the fact that there has been some improvement.

SEPTEMBER habits:

#1: Evening Chores:  I am pretty good about my morning chores (emptying the dishwasher, starting a load of laundry, 10 minute tidy), but by the end of the day i’m WIPED! My evening chores get put off till the morning, then I get behind in the morning, then clutter builds up…etc. You get the idea.  We have an appraiser coming to our house this morning so we worked this weekend to get the house in tip top shape. You guys…upstairs AND downstairs are clean at the same time. I want to make an effort to get my evening chores done so I am prepped for the next day. Evening chores include dishes, wipe counters, sweep, and fold laundry. Just saying it makes me tired.

#2: Less TV: We have already started on this but we are making a conscious effort to not have our TV on Monday – Thursday. Of course WHILE I’m typing this Freddie wandered downstairs and I just set him up with milk, banana bread, & paw patrol… Before 6am doesn’t count ok?  We don’t want it to be a hard and fast legalism rule around here, just not our first option for entertainment.

#3: Washing my Face: I do it! Just not enough. I am the worst, I really don’t like getting my face wet and water running down my arms but I want to start and keep up with a good skincare regiment.  I would REALLY love to buy some good products like Rodan & Fields but I feel like I can’t make that purchase if I’m not going to actually use them.  My goal is to wash and moisturize my face in the morning and remove make up, wash, and moisturize in the evening. Any good skincare tips?
